Nhif Self Care Portal ,Login And Services Online

    National Hospital Insurance Fund being a government state corporation provides health insurance to the citizens which includes easy accessibility, affordability and best of quality to medication. NHIF requires voluntary registration to informal members but its compulsory to formal members over the age of 18 years who earns a monthly income of above Ksh.1000. Registration can either be physical or online. Registration is free of charge for the voluntary members. For the case of physical registration, you visit any Huduma Centre with the following:

1. Copy of National I.D including that of Spouse if applicable.
2. Copy of employment appointment.
3. Colored passport photo including that of spouse and dependents if applicable.

For the case of online registration, you follow the below steps:

1. Visit the NHIF website on an internet-enabled device
2. Click individuals on the dashboard then register online to access the NHIF self-service portal
3. Once the NHIF registration form display on your screen, fill it out and ensure that all details are accurate
4. Attach copies of your national ID/marriage certificate if applicable and a colored passport-size picture
5. Click save and Submit and wait for an SMS or your device informing you about your application

After registration regular cards take up to 14 days where the member can collect it at the nearest NHIF office or Huduma Center. Payments for both voluntary and self-employed is Ksh.500 per month. NHIF payments can be done direct to their offices or via Mpesa. For a late payment to a self-employed member a 50% NHIF penalty is charged. To pay via Mpesa one Must follow the below simple procedures:

1. Open your SIM Tool Kit and go to Mpesa Menu
2. Go to lipa na Mpesa
3.    Select Paybill and enter 200222 as the business number
4. Enter your national ID as your account number
5. Enter the amount you want to pay
6. Input your pin number and confirm the transaction then send and wait for a transactional message confirming your contribution

Once the Member is issued with a NHIF card he/she now chooses an outpatient hospital which one can get medication when needed. By using USSD dial *155# , download NHIF app or visit NHIF website (www.nhif.or.ke) and follow simple steps. No one is eligible to benefit from the NHIF services immediately until 30days are over since the registration date which enables one to become an active member. NHIF cover includes all medical treatment and services provided on the order of clinician to the member.  NHIF comprehensive cover includes the benefits of outpatient and inpatient medical treatment both within the country and overseas for the principal member and eligible dependents which costs at a range of sh.10000 to sh.30000.
